The Highlands was the only place where the Incas built the funeral towers or chullpas with great skill and perfection. Molloco is one of the cemeteries located on the slopes of a hill in front of a plain terrain surrounded by agricultural fields that served as the perfect place for our ancestors to rest in funerary towers that symbolize life and. These funeral building are surrounded by the serene beauty of Puna. It is a pride to show this impressive site that combines archaeology, culture and history in a beautiful natural landscape.
Before going to visit this place on weekends, the Aymaras gather together in a village close to the site where where the Exchange (trueque) took place. This Exchange has been done since old time, from pre-Columbian times, and still remains as an activity of mutual cooperation between herders and farmers to take advantage of their own products. People congregate in different fairs and markets with agricultural products with colorful costumes, resembling to a feast of different cultures and customs. Such is the case of the people from floating islands of the Uros, for them the totora(reed), fish, eggs and birds are used for trading for potato, (chuño) dehydrated potato, sweet potato (oca), quinoa, and cereals.
Afterward we will make our way you to the remote communities of Aymaras, we will walk through trails and farmlands, the panoramic views of the Lake and the snow capped mountains will catch our attention for their beauty. We will arrive to the house of a family. They share their experiences with nature in colorful carpets and looms that show different scenarios.
