Mystical – Rock forest Visit to Aramu Muru – Colonial Temples

The mystical Rock Forest of Aramu Muru or “Hajayumarca”, city of spirits where there are extraordinary tectonic rock formations that resemble mammals, birds, rodents that were part of the historical legacy of the Andean culture. We will start our walking between these perfect reddish sandstone plates that match with the landscape of the Highlands with its sky blue, until we reach the famous door carved in the rock and origin of numerous legends and responsible of the most enigmatic phenomena of the highland as strange noises or appearance of powerful lights as manifestations of the mother earth Pachamama and almost at the center of this small door can be found a circular hole which suspiciously coincides with the location of the called chakra if a person decides to surrender. In the Inca period it was a praying altar where the cult to the God Inti or Sun was practiced.

Then our journey continues to Juli which is a small town that has churches that are a reflection of its old splendor during the Viceroyalty. There are temples that still maintain its elaborate arches and superb carvings on the pillars, altars and its Baroque Court. This city was as a center of power and trade in colonial times since it was located between Cusco and the important mining city of Potosi. As cities became the center of evangelization, various Catholic congregations built lavish churches in an effort to get more followers, this happened between the 16th and 17th centuries. These buildings have altars and paintings frames made of gold which until today still remain notable paintings from the Cusquenian School and Bernardo Bitti painter and sculptor of the Jesuit Order in South. It has a distinctive style of unique beauty.
