Day 1: Cusco – Cloud Forest – Paititi Lodge
We will depart from Cusco very early in the morning and start ascending to Paucartambo which is a high mountain area. Along the way we will visit funeral towers known as “chullpas”. Then we will descend and pass through the cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. We will stop to have the chances to observe the mating ritual of the famous Andean cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruviana). There will be the opportunity of observing the Amazonian Umbrella bird (Cephalopteros Ornatus), Trogons and many other If we are lucky enough we will witness the only South American bear, the spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon, we will be arriving to the town of Atalaya, from where we will take a 30-minute boat to our lodge. We will cross Madre de Dios river.

Day 2: Paititi Lodge – Machuhuasi Lake
Wake up with the first light to return by boat to lake Machuhuasi, once there we will take the balsa rafts along the lake, the ride is 2 hours. Along the way we can spot other species of birds such as the hoatzin. Once in land we will walk for one hour more until we get the lodge. You will spend the night at our lodge.

Day 3: Paititi Lodge – Parrots Clay Lick – Atalaya – Cusco
At dawn we will cross the river by boat to visit the parrots clay lick where many parrots congregate daily. We will enjoy a delicious breakfast and then return to Atalaya, once there we will be transported to Cusco by bus. Transfer to the hotel.
